This tool converts HEIC files to PNG directly in your browser. Drop your file into the area above and download the result — no upload, no signup, no watermark. That makes converting HEIC to PNG fast and private.
What is HEIC?
HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) is the photo format Apple has used by default on iPhones since iOS 11 in 2017. Built on the HEVC video codec, it stores photos in files roughly half the size of an equivalent-quality JPEG, according to Apple (WWDC 2017). Outside the Apple world support is patchy though, which makes converting HEIC to JPG or PNG one of the most common conversion needs.
What is PNG?
PNG (Portable Network Graphics) is a lossless image format with full transparency support. It keeps every pixel exactly, which makes it ideal for logos, icons, screenshots and graphics with sharp edges or text — at the cost of larger files than JPG.
Why convert HEIC to PNG?
You often need PNG instead of HEIC because PNG fits your purpose better — for compatibility, smaller files, or the right behaviour with transparency and printing. This converter keeps the image content and gives you the result instantly.
How to convert
1. Drop your HEIC file(s) into the area or click to browse. 2. The target format PNG is already selected. 3. Click “Convert” and download the file — multiple files come as a ZIP.
How is the HEIC decoded?
If your browser supports HEIC natively (Safari 17 and later), the photo is decoded directly. In all other browsers the tool loads a local HEIC decoder (libheif as WebAssembly) from this website once — even then, your photo never leaves your device. Very large shots, such as 48-megapixel HEIF from recent iPhones, can exhaust the memory of mobile devices; in that case the tool stops with a clear message instead of freezing the tab.
